We are pleased to announce that our first overnight camp is a full go and will take place at Burke Mtn Academy, July 31st through August 5th. Burke Mtn Academy is a state of the art campus for developing young athletes and promises to be a great experience for all those participating. The overnight camp (day camp optional) is for the aspiring kid that loves riding, and wants an action packed day filled with riding and fun while leaving little time to wonder what's happening on SnapChat! All the while, parents can have confidence knowing they will be safe, making new friends, and getting excited about a healthy life-long sport.
The food, lodging and campus at Burke Mtn Academy is an ideal environment for teaching skills with direct access to the Kingdom Trails network. Plenty of room for us to play both on and off the bike! The camp will be ideal for 11-15-year-olds who have previously participated in our day camps or for those that love to ride and want to have fun with like minded kids their age. It will be action packed and programmed to to maximized the days in full. -think shuttles, epic rides, games, swimming, and team sports. We plan to keep them busy while keeping the kids safely progressing and maximizing our learning environments. We will follow proven PMBI methods for skill acquisition and riding ability. Small athlete to coach ratios (6/1) will help provide a safe, positive learning environment.
Our programming covers braking, riding position, trail awareness, climbing, jumping, turning, shifting and more. We use the Kingdom Trails network and the Burke Bike Park for our lessons. We are not a lift service camp or a jump only camp. We are a XC skills and Enduro conditioning camp. Other activities, like swimming, games and hiking, are largely hosted in the beautiful Northeast Kingdom.
This will be our 11th year teaching mountain bike skills to young athletes.
Kraig Sourbeer is director and has 11 years of running mtb bike camps for kids. This is not his first overnight camp experience as he's organized countless ski racing trips and conditioning camps for athletes of all ages. Whether it be for the next Olympic ski Champion or your young mountain biker it's about safety, learning skills and having fun. Kraig currently works at Burke Mountain Academy and is a full-time FIS women's coach.
