Kingdom Camps strives to improve riders' skills and confidence while having fun along the way!
Our coaching methods follow proven PMBI* methods for skill acquisition and riding ability. Our sessions normally have 20-30 campers and are split into three groups of 7-10 campers with 2 coaches and counselors per group. Small athlete to coach ratios provide a safe, positive learning environment and help insure a fun day on the trails for your kids!
Our programming covers braking, riding position, trail awareness, turning, shifting and more. Some groups progress to maneuvers like bunny hops, jumps and manuals.
We use the Kingdom Trails network, pump tracks and skills areas for our lessons and several singletrack zones throughout the week.
AGES AND GROUP SELECTION
Mountain biking is a skill oriented sport where strength and size can have significant effect on abilities. Ultimately, we want your child to be in the program where a similar ability group can be formed and it is positive while out on the trail. Some ages overlap groups to help give more choices when picking out the ideal program. We do make exceptions to fit the skill and fitness level of your child. If you have further questions please contact us.
*Professional Mountain Bike Instructor Association
These riders are capable of starting, stopping and turning on their own. We work on skills like body position, braking, turning and shifting while having fun. Children are introduced to pump track and single track riding in small groups, then head out for a taste of great flow trails like New School and Kitchel. Please note this is not an a program for a never ever riden before. If your child has never ridden a bike and connot start, stop and turn on flat ground please consider a private lesson.
MEETS 9:00-12:00 Monday-Friday. AGES 6-9
Skill building, fitness and fun are the main emphasis for our Middle Ring group. We strive to advance our campers into competent, responsible riders. A typical session starts with 30 minutes of skills on a flat and easy terrain followed by balance and pressure control work on well built trails like Shoots and Ladders. After a snack break we hit the single track and log some miles! A typical session often ends with a well deserved dunk in the Dishmill Brook.
MEETS 9:00-12:00 Monday-Friday AGES 8-13
The Friday through Sunday camp is for the mountain bike camper who wants to get the most out of their weekend and enjoy the NEK to it's fullest! Paretnts will have part of Friday night and the weekend mornings free while their camper engages with peers and hones their skills on the trails. Your camper will learn and practice the skills taught in our 5-day weekday camp, but will do so in a concentrated action-packed weekend environment that will pave the way for lifelong enjoyment and appreciation of their acquired mountain biking skills. We will start each day working on skills such as body positioning, braking, turning and shifting, and then head out for real-time skills use on great flow trails like New School and Kitchel.
